Finally, there’s good news for
bowlers now. They will now get some respite from the ever attacking batsmen. ICC
has taken a decision to scrap the powerplay rules. Some of the key changes made
by the international governing body are allowing keeping five fielders outside the
30-yard circle for the last 10 overs.
The changes include allowing not having
fielders in the catching position for the initial 10 overs. Another important change
is in the free hits regarding the no-ball rule. Before this, free hits were
allowed only when the bowler would over-step. But now, a free hit will always be
on from any type of no-ball.
The changes are for ODIs and T20 internationals
and will come into effect from July 5.
Bowlers are the ones who always
face the brunt at the hands of batsmen in both these formats of the game. However,
now they will get some backup in the form of the fifth bowler outside the inner
ring for the final 10 overs. Until now, there were only four players in the
death overs that made scoring pretty easier.
A committee was headed by Anil
Kumble, former India captain. The recommendations were tabled in the annual
conference that took place at Barbados.
Meanwhile, the BCCI hasn’t changed
its stance regarding the DRS. DRS is the technology system that helps umpires
take a decision whether a batsman is out or not. India isn’t ready to accept
the system in its current form.

It seems a level playing field now.
That's right. Now batsmen like Kohli and alll others will have to work harder to score there runs. Why I am saying Kohli is because he is termed as being the one who can break Sachin's records :)
Ya Kohli definitely has the potential to beat Sachin's records provided he is not distracted. He should concentrate on his game rather than being in a race for captaincy. Such a thing is not good neither for him nor the team. One can see the strain in Indian cricket of late due to this
Exactly. The strain is certainly there. That's why major senior players have now been rested including Kohli.
