Friends Are a Treasure Trove for Anyone

♠ Posted by Abhijit Bangal in ,,
A lot has been written about friends and friendship. Still there’s a lot that can be written. This goes true for any relationship in one’s life. The relationship of a daughter-father, mother- daughter, mother-son and father-son are one of its kinds as these are blood relations.
But, the one that comes immediately after this is the relationship between two friends. The person who has friends is never alone. And in these days of online ‘friendship’ it is highly impossible to be left alone.
People may not communicate with each other face-to-face, but are glued to mobiles and computers for hours together ‘speaking’ with each other. Well, if the downside of mobiles and similar gadgets is that people are meeting other friends in person, the upside is that, they still aren’t alone in this world as technology tears down any physical boundaries.
That said, we aren’t moving in the tech direction here. What we are focusing on is the way friends come forward to help each other, when the time really matters. I have many such experiences that I can make a list of here.
I would really like to speak a few words regarding the online friends that I have. Having a long ‘career’ online, it is no wonder I have made some really good friends. And some of them are from here – from this community. What makes it heartening is the fact that they are ready to help in the best of their ability.
For me, the online friends are the ones who really matter. I must admit it that it’s for two reasons – professional and personal. The reason why there are online friends is because most of the relations started on a pro front and then went on to become a bit personal. Asking and giving advice and solutions to problems increased the depth of friendship.
Even forums and communities gave me many a good thing to talk of. I observed that even when most of the people were unknown to each other, they offered the best advice possible. Even I was one of them on some forums when I used to be active there. I wonder how helpful people are who do not hesitate to give such valuable advices that a pro would have charged for.
Doesn’t the earth seem still a beautiful place to stay on? Isn’t the world still a place that is as charming and scenic as ever imagined with all the positives? Who has seen the heavens or the hell, my friend! Jeena yaha marna yaha iske siva jana kaha…!!!
So, why not always extend a helping hand! After all, what you give comes back to you, isn’t it? Help and help will come back. Smile and smile will come back.

Ajinkya Rahane to Lead Team India in Zimbabwe

♠ Posted by Abhijit Bangal in ,
An expected leader came to the fore in the form of Ajinkya Rahane, when he was selected as the captain of the Indian team that will travel to Zimbabwe next month for a bilateral series.
This will be the second-string Indian team where all the senior players will be rested. The big names that are rested are ODI captain M S Dhoni, Virat Kohli – the test captain. Three specialist batsmen – Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina are also asked to rest.
In the bowling department, Umesh Yadav and R Ashwin will also be absent from the tour. The team director, Ravi Shastri will also not travel to Zimbabwe next month. And due to his bad patch on the field with both the bat and the ball, Ravindra Jadeja has been dropped.
Sandip Patil, who is the chairman of the selectors, said that the BCCI does not give rest to the players. That is the reason why they could send a full-strength team to the neighboring Bangladesh even after the World Cup got over recently.
Clarifying on those names that were not mentioned meant that those players were dropped, Patil clarified. Harbhajan Singh has made it back to the squad after playing his last ODI way back in 2011.
As far as wicket keeping is concerned, no specialist keeper has been chosen. There are however, three players who can keep. Those players are Kedar Jadhav, Robbin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu.

Finally A Respite for The Bowlers – No Powerplays Now

♠ Posted by Abhijit Bangal in ,,,
Finally, there’s good news for bowlers now. They will now get some respite from the ever attacking batsmen. ICC has taken a decision to scrap the powerplay rules. Some of the key changes made by the international governing body are allowing keeping five fielders outside the 30-yard circle for the last 10 overs.
The changes include allowing not having fielders in the catching position for the initial 10 overs. Another important change is in the free hits regarding the no-ball rule. Before this, free hits were allowed only when the bowler would over-step. But now, a free hit will always be on from any type of no-ball.
The changes are for ODIs and T20 internationals and will come into effect from July 5.
Bowlers are the ones who always face the brunt at the hands of batsmen in both these formats of the game. However, now they will get some backup in the form of the fifth bowler outside the inner ring for the final 10 overs. Until now, there were only four players in the death overs that made scoring pretty easier.
A committee was headed by Anil Kumble, former India captain. The recommendations were tabled in the annual conference that took place at Barbados.
Meanwhile, the BCCI hasn’t changed its stance regarding the DRS. DRS is the technology system that helps umpires take a decision whether a batsman is out or not. India isn’t ready to accept the system in its current form.

The other day a thought came to my mind...

The other day a thought came to my mind
How much pain a mother feels
When her young one is hurt

Why can't other foods you can find
A living being someone kills
In your tummy you put all the dirt

There’s so much tastier of many a kind
Carry it on the mountains or the hills
Advocate veg and make a good advert

Don't forget to read my Haiku on Embrace Veg Diet!

This is another of my attempt to write something in a poetry form to advocate vegetarian food. The lines have a rhyme that follow the a-b-c, a-b-c, a-b-c sequence in the three stanzas.

Haiku - Embrace Veg Diet - A Campaign

♠ Posted by Abhijit Bangal

My first ever attempt on Haiku for making this an inspirational post to give up on non-veg diet and embrace veg food.

What’s so delicious
In tasting some living being
Shame shame shame, human being

I have nominated two ladies for this – Shweta Dave and Maniparna Sengupta Majumdar and my friend Vinay Nagaraju. Vinay always has inspirational posts on his blog. I hope through Shweta and Maniparna’s haiku poems they will be able to make a difference.

Shweta Dave blogs at Sunshine and Zephyr
Maniparna Sengupta Majumdar blogs at Scattered Thoughts
Vinay Nagaraju blogs at Inspire99

And a special nomination is for Debajyoti to come up with a series of cartoon/caricatures in her blog post. Debajyoti's posts are not only comic but also send a message.

Debajyoti Ghosh blogs at Some Facts, Some Nonsense

I wish these friends of mine accept this nomination and nominate at least three more people.

I am a veg by birth and wish to spread the word about vegetarian food. Please spread the word...
